Highlights include:

  • African Journey – Get face-to-face with giraffes, spot lions, elephants, rhinos, and zebras in realistic habitats.

  • Penguin Coast – Home to North America’s largest colony of African penguins, with underwater viewing and daily feeding demos.

  • The Maryland Wilderness – A hands-on area where kids can explore native animals, crawl through a giant tree, and visit the otters.

  • Farmyard – Meet friendly goats, donkeys, chickens, and more in this kid-friendly interactive area.

The zoo is easy to get to and offers free on-site parking. Plan about 2–3 hours for your visit.

Afternoon: National Aquarium in Baltimore

Next, head to the National Aquarium, located in the heart of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. This world-class attraction features more than 17,000 animals and over 750 species from around the world.

Must-see exhibits:

  • Blacktip Reef – A stunning coral reef exhibit filled with sharks, rays, and tropical fish.

  • Australia: Wild Extremes – A unique environment showcasing birds, reptiles, and fish native to Australia’s arid habitats.

  • Shark Alley – A walk-through exhibit with a 225,000-gallon tank that surrounds you with sharks.

  • Amazon River Forest – A lush rainforest habitat featuring monkeys, sloths, and exotic birds.

  • Jellies Invasion – An immersive jellyfish exhibit that mesmerizes kids and adults alike.

The aquarium emphasizes conservation and education, making it both a fun and enriching experience for the whole family.

Evening: Explore the Inner Harbor

After your aquatic adventure, wind down with a stroll around Baltimore’s scenic Inner Harbor. There’s plenty to explore, including:

  • Casual and waterfront dining options (kid-friendly and fancier spots alike)

  • Street performers and paddle boats (seasonal)

  • Shops and historic ships docked nearby (like the USS Constellation)

  • The perfect spot to grab ice cream and enjoy harbor views

Whether you’re walking the promenade, grabbing dinner, or just relaxing by the water, it’s a great way to end a memorable day
